Rome

June, 2018

We have a busy day today. We were able to sleep in a little because we did not need to meet Cecilia until 9 am. Plans for the day include a tour of the Forum of Augustus, visiting Saint Maria in Aracoeli, touring the Jewish Ghetto, and visiting the Trastevere neighborhood for a food tasting tour. The rest of the day was ours to do as we wish. I decided to visit the Pantheon and go inside. On the way, I passed Largo Argentina and discovered a "Cat Museum". It was located in an excavated ruins. The cats look fat and happy! It rained a little on the way to the Pantheon. There wasn't a long line when I got there so I was able to go right in. What an amazing building! I especially loved the drain holes built into the floor for when it rains through the Oculus. After visiting the Pantheon, I went back to see Trevi Fountain again, then walked from there to the Spanish Steps. Then the rain really let loose! I was soaked. Dashing to the Metro station, I headed back to our hotel. After arriving at the Colosseum station, the rain had stopped. I was able to walk back to the hotel to dry off, rest, grab some dinner, and journal. Another great day!
