East London Food Walk
Spitafields Market
Dirty Dick's Pub-named after an 18th century merchant who refused to wash after his fiance died on their wedding day. Was formally a warehouse.
When our bus stopped at a red light, I saw this decorated tree outside the bus window. I had to take a picture!
Spitafields Market
We were up early, had a light breakfast, and met Jeanie for our East London food tour. Onto the tube and off at Liverpool Station for a short walk to Spitalfields Market. There has been a market on this site since 1638. We were met by our local guide, Ann, who grew up in East London. We visited St. John Bread and Wine for an English Bacon Butty, The English Restaurant for bread pudding with cream sauce, Androuet for fresh English Cheese, Poppies Fish and Chips, The Pride Of Spitalfields to sample local brew, Aladin Indian Restaurant for curry, and finally ended back at Spitalfields to shop. What a wonderful experience!
