This tour began two days before the actual tour date, allowing a day of travel and a day to tour Haarlem on my own before meeting the group.

I found a great flight deal going round-trip through Paris (the tour ends in Paris), so I booked it then added a separate flight from Paris to Amsterdam. From there, I took the bus to Haarlem. The Rick Steves guidebook gave great detailed information on making the transfer. It was very helpful as I am a solo traveler.

Upon arrival in Haarlem, I passed the town square on my way to the hotel and they were having their Saturday market. I found my hotel and I was able to check in right away (the staff at the Ambassador were great!). I took a short nap, then headed out to explore the town. So beautiful-canals, flowers, windmills, more flowers. I grabbed a quick take-out at the Albert Hein market, headed back to the hotel, and got to bed early. What a great start to my European vacation. Can't wait to meet my tour guide and fellow tour members tomorrow!
