Day 5 Friday, June 17
Portsmouth, Shipbuilding,
and Salisbury
This morning we checked out of our hotel in Alfriston and boarded the coach for Portsmouth. It took us several hours to get there and when we arrived it was raining. We pulled out our umbrellas and headed to the end of the pier to the HMS Victory for a tour. We had to wait our turn because only a certain number could be let on at one time. After touring the ship, I went to the Figurehead Museum, then the Shipbuilding School. I was hoping to go on the harbor cruise, but it was raining too hard, so I passed on it. We couldn't go in the Mary Rose Museum because it was closed for construction. After touring the harbor area, we boarded the coach and headed for Salisbury. We arrived in time to check into the Rose & Crown, then take a brief orientation walk around Salisbury. The rest of the evening we were on our own to explore.
