Day 6 Saturday, June 18
Salisbury & Stonehenge
Today we gathered after breakfast for a walking tour of Salisbury and Salisbury Cathedral. This included a visit to the Chapter House to see the Magna Carta. The tour was led by Paul and was very informative. I enjoyed the Chapter House. There were carvings around the room that tell stories from the Bible. Very intricate! We had free time after the tour to wander on our own. I decided to go back into the Cathedral after lunch in their cafe and spend a little more time. It was nice to leisurely tour on my own. After our free time was over, we met back outside our hotel to board the coach for Stonehenge. I had visited Stonehenge in 2001, and it is totally different now. The parking lot is about a mile away and you have to take a shuttle to the site. When we arrived, it was not as crowded as I thought it would be. We were given plenty of time to explore the standing stones as well as the museum and re-created village. The weather was cloudy, but we did not get rain. We were back at our hotel by 5:30 pm and had the rest of the evening free. Another great day!

We could walk out of the breakfast room onto this beautiful lawn right on the River Avon.
I guess you can tell from this banner the political views of this house!
