Day 9  Tuesday, June 21

St. Austell's, Trelissick Gardens,                          Penzance

We left Chagford this morning and headed to St. Austell to tour the brewery, a family-run business since 1851. It was a small operation, but an interesting process. We had lunch there after our tour, then headed for Trelissick Gardens. It was about a hour away from St. Austell. We were given 1 1/2 hours to wander the gardens on our own. There were woodland gardens, meadows, and lots of paths to explore. At 3:30 it was back on the coach to travel to Penzance. Penzance, we found out, is a hilly town. Our hotel, Hotel Penzance, was half-way up a steep road. The bus had to drive to the top, try to turn around on the narrow streets (Ben did an awesome job!), then drive back down to the hotel. We had time to unpack, rest a little, then walked into town for our dinner at the Star Inn. It was family style and very relaxing. Afterwards, we were free to wander. Another enjoyable day!
