Culross
Breakfast started this morning at 7:00 am and we met our coach driver, John, at 8:15. Everyone arrived promptly, loaded the luggage and we were off, crossing the Firth of Forth and on to Culross. It was a beautiful, sunny day and we were in Culross in about 30 minutes. Culross is a small, sleepy town with a population of 395. Outlander fans were thrilled as it is a popular filming site for the TV series. Culross Palace isn't really a palace, but a merchant's home built between 1597 and 1611. Inside the palace are painted wooden panels depicting Bible scenes. It has colorful Dutch tiles and 17th and 18th century furnishings. Behind the palace is an 17th Century terraced garden complete with roaming chickens!
Little in the town of Culross has changed in the last 3 centuries. It was a delight to visit Culross!
