Edinburgh Castle
After a hardy breakfast of eggs, mushrooms, toast, yogurt and juice (you will find the breakfasts on the Rick Steves tours are very generous!), our group did the "buddy check", then boarded the tram for Edinburgh Castle. It was raining out, but we pushed through. When we got off our tram stop, we headed up Mound Street, a very steep walk, towards Edinburgh Castle. No waiting in lines to enter thanks to Rick Steves! Liz had our tickets ready, gave us a brief orientation, then set us free to explore for several hours. Then we gathered again and headed down the Royal Mile to see the sites-St. Giles Cathedral, Greyfriar's Bobby and Cemetery and the National Museum. The rest of the day we were free to explore on our own. I decided to follow Rick Steves' guide book and visit the places featured on the Royal Mile Walk. It was a great afternoon!

We came across this beautiful home in Old Town as we walked to the Castle. See the cat on the roof? It's not real.
The cobbles are designed to give the horses towing carts traction as they climb the hill.
