Oban

The drive from Glencoe Valley to Oban was about an hour. It was still cloudy when we arrived, but the rain had stopped. John dropped us off at Oban Distillery for a tour. We were given samples in the shop, then our guide, Bill, took us on the tour. We were given a glass with "Oban" etched on the side as a souvenir. After our tour, John met us with the coach and he dropped us off at our Bed and Breakfast. Our group was divided between two hotels that were right next to each other. I was staying in the Wellpark. It reminded me of an old mansion. Cindy and I checked in and got settled. The rain started up so I spent some time writing in my travel diary and unpacking and doing laundry. (I only pack 4 days worth of clothing and wash along the way-Rick Steves says to pack light and I did.) Around 6:30 pm the rain let up and I went out for a walk to explore the town. Our hotel is right on Oban Bay and we can watch the ferries going to and from the Isle of Mull. I explored and took pictures, then returned to our room to relax and prepare for tomorrow.
