14 Day Best of England 2016
Stanton
Stanton is a sleepy, typical Cotswold village, one street long with beautiful flower-bedecked doorways and windows-a photographer's delight. It is indeed small with a population of 198. It is a gem of the Cotswolds! The village is built almost completely of Cotswold stone, honey-colored Jurassic limestone. Charles and John Wesley were frequent visitors to Stanton. In the center of the town is the Church of St. Michael and All Angels. The oldest portions of the church date back to 1375 AD and were restored in 1982. There is an old Market Cross in the center of town that has a 17th century sundial on the base.
