Wells Cathedral
The proper name of the cathedral is "Cathedral Church of Saint Andrew" but it is commonly referred to as Wells Cathedral, located in Wells, Sommerset. The Cathedral was built between 1175 and 1490, replacing an earlier church on the same site that dated back to 705. The west front displays almost 300 original 13th century carvings of Kings and the Last Judgment. The bottom row of niches is empty, too easily reached by Cromwell's men, who were hell-bent on destroying "graven images".
