14 Day Best of England 2016
Westminster Abbey
Upon arriving in London, we went by coach from King's Cross station to Westminster Abbey. We had 30 minutes for a brief lunch, then met at Westminster Abbey for a guided tour. No photos were allowed inside the Abbey, but their website has downloadable photos for personal use. I was able to pull pictures from there to add to my slide show presentation.
It was very crowded but we got to see the Grave of the Unknown Warrior, the Coronation Chair, the Nave and Quire, the Shrine of St. Edward the Confessor, Poet's Corner, tombs of Elizabeth I and Mary Queen of Scots, Memorials to Handel, Shakespeare and Sir Isaac Newton, and the beautiful stained glass windows. Afterwards, we were given a little time on our own so I was able to visit the gift shop to buy postcards of the interior. It was a very enjoyable visit.
